The latest piece of technology to become popular in today’s home theatre setup is Tivo/DVR service. This is a device that allows you to digitally record TV programs automatically to be played at a later date. This is a huge convenience to those that would otherwise miss a program because they have to work. If you are considering the purchase of a Tivo unit, there are some things you should know.

First, Tivo service through DirecTV will require you to have to coax RG6 (cable) lines and a land-based phone line. If you do not have land-based telephone service, then Tivo is not in option available to you as of yet. The installer will add the second coax line for you, but remember that DirecTV’s standard install only includes running the line around the house and penetrating an outside wall. If you want the lines wall-fished to be hidden or because the TV is on an inside wall, then additional custom labor charges will apply. If you are having your house built or remodeled, it is smart for you to have at least 2 coax lines ran to each room.
